My neck hurts. I'm still not 100% since my bout with the flu. My head keeps spinning, literally, I have vertigo; Twitter suspended my account; PMS kicked my butt and I'm missing the gym. What am I going to do about it? I'm going to shake it baby, shake it!
I'm a creature of habit so having my routine out of whack, not to mention my body and social media account, really bogs me down. Do I have organization and control issues? Oh yeah, big time! What can I do to shake the funk? Take my own advice for one.
It's time to refocus; to put my attention somewhere that lightens the mood; to choose an activity that is productive and not destructive. No matter how badly I'd like to dive head first into the "Death By Chocolate" ice cream carton or bury my head under pillows and sleep, I won't. I'm going to take it like a Woman and create positive change!
First I'll write a new blog outlining my intention, then I'll take action and finally, I'll follow up on my progress by commenting about my success later today.
I'm going to preen, take a shower and pamper myself with a little extra time. I'll announce I'm having "Mommy Time", so as not to be interrupted. Seriously my kids are 10 and 12 and still, just about every time I sit on the toilette, I hear in the distance, the infamous shout, "Mommm, MOM, Mom where are you?...." It's tough for a woman to get privacy these days! So, after securing my "don't interrupt" status quot, I will proceed to enjoy a long hot shower; take time getting fussed up and choose a cute, but comfortable outfit that will adorn my new found peace of mind and change of heart.
After 'me time' I'll put in my best of funk CD and dance around the house. This will stir my girls up, as they have a guest here and don't like it when I dance/embarrass them in front of their friends, of course they smile and play the entire time. If I'm good, really good, I may succeed in enrolling them in the fun. Actually, I will bribe them! That's what I'll do, bribe them with the mall. Dance with me and shop or don't dance and stay home. It's a no brain-er!
The mall is not always my favorite venue, but necessary at times. Today is clothes shopping for the girls, including me. I need a new shirt to take a picture in. It's time to update the photo on the homepage of my web site. I'm thinking shirt and possibly tie, something different. Now that I think about it, the mall has yogurt and massage too. Oh yeah, it's going to be a good afternoon!
When I return, I'll take a nap, a 15 to 30 minute re-charge. I'll finish some office work, do a little house cleaning and re-connect with my computer. Maybe Twitter will have forgiven whatever it was I did to be suspended. Dinner is done. We will enjoy a throw it together - B.B.Q. chicken salad from Costco.
I'll wrap up the day with a nice long walk, possibly in the park with the kids. When I hit the bed I will do so with the sweet feeling of success. No more sore neck, thanks to mall massage; 99% better from flu, thanks to mall yogurt; new spinning dance moves in kitchen, thanks to vertigo; Twitter or not, feeling twitterpated with my children after spending quality time; no more PMS end of cycle and in motion again thanks to long, vigorous walk. Oh yeah, I'm going to Shake It Baby! Shake It!
How it truly all Shook Out! It's 7:00 PM. We just finished dancing! I had to pull the girls off the couch to get started. It was terrific fun! I shared the bathroom with both girls during shower time this morning. We giggled, and preened together until leaving for the mall. Mall massage fixed my neck and helped the vertigo; Carmel Macchiatos took the place of yogurt; extended walking time at the mall satisfied my need for motion. I got a kick out of watching my girls shop and decided to shop alone at a later time for my shirt. I busted out a few chores and am saving office stuff for tomorrow. I didn't need a nap. I'm fully charged. We had a great ready made salad and I just checked my Twitter status. I'm still suspended. Feels like being in the principles office again, Hee! Hee! Now it's humorous instead of frustrating.
Having a plan really made a difference today. It helped me focus on having fun and created a framework that supported my intention. I almost didn't dance, but couldn't finish this blog until I did. I'm so glad it was part of the plan and that I followed through. The energy and sharing with my daughters and their friend made for great, fun, energetic, expression!
I do feel much better physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually I'm soaring. So, my recommendation to anyone having a bad day is - Shake It Baby! Shake It!

Emotional Wealth
Emotions are amazing. They color life with an array of diversity. They are energetic aspects of human experience, enabling each individual to express their frame of mind and attitude, while symbiotically experiencing their reaction, to the perception, they currently exercise.
Emotions are cogs which turn the wheels of cause and effect on personal and social circumstance, for instance, the stock market is an emotionally volatile entity. People's emotional reactions to economic, political and other world issues greatly influence, financial choices. The outcome can be observed by following the stock exchange and witnessing economic strength or weakness.
Ones emotional health is a powerful source of influence that helps form and change life - physically, mentally and spiritually. It is crucial that one comprehends the magnitude of emotional health and that they take responsibility for how their emotions influence not only themselves, but others.
People are often driven by their emotions, allowing their lives to be dictated by how they feel in flux, rather then by learning to control and manage their emotional reactions, in a way which helps promote optimum - physical, mental and spiritual health. The difference between being emotionally reactive and emotionally active is huge. It is comparable to being the ball in a pinball machine, or the person choosing when to hit the flipper button on the pinball machine. In other words are you the ball or the player?
Individual belief systems generate emotional reactions. "What do I believe that makes me feel this way?" is a question/tool that can be of great personal benefit. Posing this question when undesirable emotions are being experienced or afterwards, can help one realize the source of their pain, discomfort, anger etc. It also enables one to become responsible for their emotions rather then blaming others for the way they feel.
Nobody makes anyone else feel emotions. Each individual is responsible for their own emotional experiences. Blaming others for ones emotional experiences only serves to deflect personal responsibility and accountability for individual health-care. Don't take anything personal, a criticism or compliment.
The moment one takes other peoples opinions to heart they foster deficient power. Optimum power arises from self confidence. It does not rely on other peoples opinion as source for momentum. Depleted power is the result of low self esteem. It plummets when other people's negative opinions are taken as truth. If one gains a sense of confidence by embracing the truth, that, they are worthy of life in abundance, full of love, then they will emanate magnanimous positive energy. If one gains a sense of low self esteem by embracing the illusion that they are unworthy of life in abundance and full of love, then they will emanate magnanimous negative energy.
Emotions are a mind-body-spirit experience. Physically, emotions cause chemical reactions in the brain and body. Chemicals/hormones such as adrenaline are caused by fear. Too much adrenaline exhausts the nervous system and promotes poor health. Dopamine is released when one falls in love, resulting in a sense of dopiness and euphoria. If one's chemical/hormonal reaction to emotional experiences becomes excessive then emotions can literally make one sick. The opposite is true also, if one is sick, they can use positive emotions to heal. Love and joy occur simultaneously with the release of dopamine and oxytocin, both are anti-inflammatory drugs used pharmaceutically, that offer different healthy benefits.
Emotional wealth is determined by emotional health. Everyone is emotionally wealthy. Some are more wealthy in fear, others love. The wealth one has is the source from which they share. How do you contribute to life? What emotins run you? What emotions do you choose to run?

How to Receive a Great Massage
Massage Therapy is an Art. It is expression through touch. The massage therapist is trained to touch in beneficial ways and with the intention of promoting their client's well being. When receiving massage, you are the canvass. Though the therapist may have years of experience the process of massage is shared by both of you.
Communication is important. Before the massage session begins, the therapist should take time to learn about your physical history i.e. - surgeries; accidents; broken bones and repetitious physical strains. Consider what you might share ahead of time. Things like - old athletic injuries, childhood falls, sprains, strains and work related issues, may have left a lasting mark in your tissue, and will be insightful and constructive information for the therapists. Your recent and current state of being is important to relay, as it will help the therapist tailor the massage specifically to your current needs.
People seek massage for all different reasons. Some need deep tissue work for injury; sports or persistent postural ailments, others may need soothing, rhythmic touch to assist relaxation or to establish emotional equilibrium and relieve mental stress. Sometimes it's nice not to have an agenda when receiving massage. Allowing the therapist to explore and discover what is ever telling in the body, can be a very liberating, connected and an enlightening experience.
As the massage session progresses feel free to express your thoughts about the pressure being used. What is considered deep tissue to one person may not be the same for another. If you feel that you are resisting the work i.e. holding your breath or tensing your muscles, first try to relax and secondly ask the therapist to lighten the touch just a bit. If you think more pressure would be better, speak up. Each massage is unique in and of itself. Even if you see the same therapist on a regular basis, you are never the same mind/body each time. Neither is the therapist.
Breathing is key to gaining optimum benefit from massage. Breath helps regulate the body systems and is the physical hinge by which stress can be governed. Deep, relaxed breathing helps to calm nerves and oxygenate tissue. If an area in the body is constricted and tense the binding will effect related muscles, nerves, organs and attitude. Binding may cause symptoms to occur in other parts of the body. Everything is connected. Taking a deep breath when working through an area of tension helps the therapist become aware that you too are working to relax and release.
Talking during a session is up to you. It is o.k. to communicate with the therapist before hand and convey that you would like to be quiet. Sometimes talking is desired and can be beneficial as catharsis helps release stress. Other times talking is just nervous or defensive chatter and can hinder the optimum benefit of the session.

Get out of your own way.
Intentions are good, until life screws them up! Do you have a death grip on "how it should be"? Are you hanging on to an expectation and enabling grief in your life? Is disappointment wrenching your heart and festering sorrow into your day? If so, get out of your own way!
Stop, let go of your ideas and ask, "How can I best be of service in this moment?". Put yourself aside and look around, literally. Look around and witness all that you are part of. Know that in this moment you are like a drop in a pond. Your thoughts and actions ripple immediately to all shores. The cause that you are is the effect shared by the universe.
Today you may offer a rainbow and tomorrow a hurricane. What you intend may not be what is achieved, it will however be what is necessary. Let go of "how it should be", and accept "it is as it should be". Accepting each moment as complete helps free the spirit from past obligation and future expectation. Each moment is abundant opportunity. One in an instance can change perception, emotional reaction and physical behaviour.
Now, is opportunity ever present, always a gift and never wrong. Leverage now and in this moment know that later it will be the architecture on which you can reflect and enjoy as memory.

How did you give today?
What if, right now, a large number of people were provoked to behave in a way which made other people feel inspired; positive; resourceful; confident; loved and happy. What would happen if in one weeks time a group of individuals decided to get creative and with loving intention give in a way that would cause other people to be grateful? Possibly a simple post to a simple blog would be enough to stimulate action.
Gratitude is reflected in attitude and attitude is the mast of every one's ship. Feeling grateful is expansive. It stretches awareness and unifies, if only for a moment, beyond the limiting sense of self. Gratitude requires awareness of being thankful for something or someone beyond "I". Gratitude is unifying.
Giving can prove challenging, what, how or when to give often poses enough of an obstacle that following through with the idea of giving may pass to the wayside. Considerations such as, "How will I be taken?" or "I don't want them to think that ...." may void intention before it is set into play.
Have you ever told a stranger how beautiful they are without having ulterior motives, such as a date or getting out of the "dog house"? Have you ever discovered a note posted somewhere obvious that expresses something unusual, constructive and sweet.
This is written with the intention to inspire Random Acts of Kindness and with the opportunity for people to share their experiences resulting from this post and to read the experiences of others.
If you decide to participate. All you have to do is make someone elses day, by giving in a sincere loving way. If you woul like to share the process and see how all this turns out, share your own story and read the comments left under this post at http://www.tinapitts.blogspot.com/

Shhh, Quiet, Listen ...
What's that? I was thinking so loud I couldn't hear you! Often while one listens to another they are simultaneously running thoughts of their own which may be relevant to the subject matter at hand or not. Attention can be refracted through our senses like light is through a prism. It can also be honed in like a laser, focused and precise.
When one chooses to be a good listener, they employ all their senses. Open attentive body language - good eye-contact, relaxed, astute posture and calm, rhythmic breathing help to establish and practice healthy physical presence while listening to others. Respectful body-language creates opportunity for good listening and models healthy, considerate physical awareness, that others will appreciate.
Practicing good listening skills, enables one to hear better, however what is heard is subject to how one takes what is being said. A simple statement such as, "I thought you would be home already." may be heard as, "I'm disappointed you aren't already home." This is the result of listening with filters. Filters are subconscious beliefs waiting for validation. In this case, the listener's filter popped up to validate the belief that once again "I" have disappointed you (revealing an underlying point of contingency). Listening with filters can cause lots of communication turmoil.
Being a good listener requires taking responsibility for your "filters" and refraining from immediately concluding that what you heard corresponds with what the person was trying to relay. It also, requires patience and understanding that the individual speaking may not be expressing their thoughts as clearly as desired. Good communication skills begin with good listening and continues with good dialogue. It's beneficial to repeat back in ones own words, what was gathered from the information shared. It's surprising how often what is intended to be construed is completely misconstrued and wrongly interpreted by the person in audience.
Emotions tend to vacillate during communication. At times individuals get caught up in their emotional reactions. This may enable individual judgement, behaviour and words to be dictated by the upheaval of emotions rather then centered in clear, focused, consciousness and loving intention, necessary for healthy communication skills. If emotions take over a conversation and craziness begins to occur for either one or both participants then pause should be taken before continuing.
Taking pause helps emotional turbulence settle and allows time for consideration. It's important however, to address the topic again at a later time. Both parties should work together to reach some sort of conclusion, even if it is to agree to disagree.
Being a good listener helps others better express what they have to say. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting ones "Self" out of the way!

Why are My Jeans Rebelling
Fat Water Retentive or Gassy?
"Last week these jeans were not nearly as snug. What the heck!" Feeling like a stuffed sausage sucks. In a weeks time it is very possible that a pound or two could have been gained, especially if what was eaten has not been eliminated. In this case a mild or severe case of constipation and gas may be the cause for the current "jean" dilemma. In fact, gross as it is, the average person is running around with lots of extra fecal matter stuck in their colon. Many people are truly full of ______. The intestine is a good place to start if one is interested in loosening up the snug fitting jeans.
Intestinal Health is imperative to overall health. It only stands to reason as this organ, in adults is approximately 21 feet long. Something that big and prominent in ones abdominal region, must be important! Like the plumbing in a house, if the intestine becomes filled with debris, then at some point and time Roto Rooter may need to be employed in the case of the intestine an enema or colonic may be needed! These choices however, are extremely personal and definitely encroach on ones intimate space.
Thankfully their are alternatives for assisting the colon in the process cleansing. One of my personal favorites is flax seed. I use a coffee grinder to grind my own flax and integrate it just about daily into my diet. This is an inexpensive way to utilize flax. Massage can also be very effective, in conjunction with a warm compress, blood flow is increased and tissue spasms calmed, so blockages can be loosened enabling stuck matter to move. Probiotics are another very helpful attribute for intestinal health. In fact I believe everyone should educate themselves about the benefits of probiotics. They are a form of good bacteria necessary for a healthy colon. Good bacteria can be wiped out by antibiotics in the colon, as a result the body loses one of its greatest immune defenses. Acidophiles is a probiotic, found in yogurt, however it is only one strain of probiotics, the body needs lots more. Water, water and more water coupled with a fiber rich diet will create moisture rich waste that moves along nicely. A little water with a little fiber, makes dry waste that moves with difficulty, sometimes causing discomfort and pain. Debris that stays in the colon for extended periods of time can become very toxic and may cause other health related diseases.
"Not only are the jeans snug, but my belly hurts and I stink!" Does gas have you running to far corners of the room to avoid embarrassment? Or are you enjoying the attention you get when you fill shared space with your personal aroma? In either case most gastric experiences are not pleasant. Again probiotics may help alleviate the build up of gas. Massage can also help to release the pressure. Lying face up, rub the lower abdomen in large circular motion going clock wise. This is known as the sun-moon stroke. This will help move built up gas along to the exit door. Considering the exit door, it should be placed at the optimum angle for release, up is good, sideways o.k. down not so effective.
Is too much H2O getting you down? "It's not just my stomach that feels bloated. My face, fingers and ankles seam swollen too." Water may be the issue. There are lots of water retentive possibilities. Salty food, hormones, medicines and diet in general can cause excess water to be held in ones tissue, this is known as edema. Hormones, sodium and kidneys regulate the amount of water present inside & outside the cells.

Share Massage with Family & Friends
One does not have to be a massage therapist to share the many benefits of massage. Giving and receiving are both rewarding. Creating a return on touch investment may be challenging, but well worth the effort!
All ages can receive a healthy touch. Giving a healthy touch requires basic coordination. Beginners can start at around 2 years of age. The earlier one is inspired to touch in a healthy way, the sooner the benefits are realized. Cultivating early interest in massage can be very beneficial to elders/parents in need of massage therapy! Communication about touch is very important and can be a wonderful catalyst for educating children and teens about the importance of physical boundaries. Establishing open communication about physical contact and respecting healthy boundaries regarding touch and personal space, can empower individuals to discern a healthy touch from an unhealthy touch.
Here are a few guidelines and tools for integrating massage into the relationships you share with family and friends.
Flexible Atmosphere:
Floor Work (laying down) - In general people will happily lie on the floor if it means they will receive a back rub! Use a sheet, blanket and a pad if you have one to cover the floor. A couple pillows will help support their neck and knees when they are face up and support their feet and chest if desired when they are face down.
Floor Work (sitting up) - Place a pillow on the ground in front of a chair or couch so the receiver has a cushion to sit on and a solid surface to lean back against.
Dining Table (leaning forward) - Turn the chair sideways in front of the table, so the recipients back can be easily accessed. Place a comfy pillow or two on the table in front of the chair. Have the person lean forward onto the pillows. It may be more comfortable if the recipient straddles a chair with a low back. Be creative.
Suggested Tools for the Trade:
Comfort is key to establishing a good workspace for massage. Create a tantalizing environment to inspire skeptics and lure the more resistant participants! Massage can be given just about anywhere. Doing massage in the open helps to alleviate preconceived notions one may have about massage and visually stimulates interest in both giving and receiving a healthy touch.

"Duality"
~ Duality ~
Light and dark must both be seen
to discover shades between.
Male and female must both express
to know that neither one is best.
Hot and cold meld together
to create different weather.
Suffering and bliss co-create
the life experience we celebrate.
Love and hate are required
to shape emotion and inspire.
Life and death will both be known
each will come from seeds we've sewn.
The challenge is to set free
stories impeding prosperity.
Life is a process of duality.
Ones balance becomes reality.
Alone we create love or hate.
Togehter we show which dominates.
What we want,
what we receive,
what we think we must need.
Thought, prayer and focused intention,
turn the gears for life's invention!
Connected in God, energy, or what have you,
duality is the super-glue.
Everything, nothing,
nowhere and here,
Each moment
can be love or fear.
I effect you and you effect me
together we experience
Duality.

"Sharing a Thought"
"Sharing a Thought"
When we judge others, our judgement is a reflection.
of ourselves, our beliefs, our foundation.
We are the defendant, the prosecutor, the jury & the judge.
We commit ourselves to prison.
We commit ourselves to freedom.
We can not clearly see others until we clearly see ourselves.
See the world negative & you will be right.
See the world positive & you will be right.
As you see the world, the world will see you
& you both will be right.

"Time"
"Time"
Time is forever,
Here & not there.
Challenge it's being,
Without any care.
You will soon find,
It is right now,
No later,
No sooner,
No matter how...

Kaleidoscope of Realities
It is perspective that helps define individuality. How one views life often determines how one experiences life. Focus is the epicenter of perspective. What one chooses to focus on and give attention to becomes the sum total of: (time + energy + perspective = present experience/life). When one is not happy, discontent or experiencing life in an undesirable way, they can choose to redirect their focus and change their perspective. Creating a "hinge point" helps to enable pause in thoughts. A hinge point is an image or thought that is chosen specifically to be a respite from undesirable focus and attention. It is personal and introspective. It is a faculty of the internal chatter or visual images that each person experiences. One individual may choose "OM" to center and change focus, another may take reprieve by imagining the Lamborghini they drive in their dreams! The word "delete" is often all it takes to become aware and shift ones perspective.
Perspectives change and life evolves as a wondrous kaleidoscope of realities. People are like magnificent works of art, constantly changing in expression and showing up as fantastic masterpieces. The dimensional aspects of human nature - mind, body, emotion & spirit color life's rainbow with energetic pizazz.
How important it is that people realise how very powerful their perspective is and how necessary it is that they share with confidence and self worth.
It's time to share different points of view and color this tapestry of life with healthy, love-filled vibrancy. What's your perspective?
